Cryotherapy Treatments

Doctor led aesthetic clinic, west midlands

Treatment Time

15–30 minutes

(depending on areas treated).

RESULTS TIMELINE

Lesions typically darken, dry, and shed naturally within 2–6 weeks, revealing fresh, healthy skin beneath.

DOWNTIME

Minimal, most clients resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

RECOMMENDED SESSIONS

Usually one session per lesion; resistant warts or verrucae may need a follow-up at 2–4 weeks.

PAIN LEVEL

Low, feels like a brief sting or cold sensation lasting only a few seconds.

SIDE EFFECTS

Mild redness, swelling, or blistering for 24–48 hours; temporary lightening or darkening of the treated area may occur.

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Ensure the lesion has been clinically assessed and confirmed benign before treatment.

  • Avoid active tanning, fake tan, or sunburn on the treatment area for at least 1 week before your appointment.

  • Do not apply creams, lotions, or makeup to the area on the day of treatment.

  • Inform your practitioner if you have any skin infections, open wounds, cold hypersensitivity, or circulation issues.

  • Avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication on the day of treatment (unless prescribed) to reduce the risk of excess bruising or swelling.

  • Come with realistic expectations — some lesions may require more than one session depending on their depth and size.

Post-Treatment Care

  • The treated area may appear white, red, or slightly swollen immediately after treatment, this is normal and temporary.

  • Do not pick, rub, or scratch any crusts or blisters that form; allow them to heal naturally.

  • Keep the area clean and dry for 48–72 hours.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming, and heavy exercise for 3 days post-treatment.

  • Apply SPF 50+ daily to protect the healing skin and prevent pigmentation changes.

  • If blistering occurs, cleanse gently and use a mild antiseptic ointment; cover only if necessary.

  • Avoid using active skincare products (retinol, acids, exfoliants) for 5–7 days.

  • Contact your practitioner if the area shows signs of infection or hasn’t healed within 6 weeks.

What is Cryotherapy?

CryoPen® Cryotherapy is a quick, precise, and minimally invasive treatment used to remove benign skin lesions through controlled freezing.

Using targeted jets of liquefied nitrous oxide at –89°C, CryoPen® destroys unwanted tissue while preserving surrounding healthy skin.

This medical-grade treatment provides a scar-minimising alternative to surgical excision or cautery, with no need for anaesthetic and minimal downtime, making it suitable for both aesthetic and therapeutic lesion removal.
