About the Treatment

Hair thinning and hair loss can feel difficult to manage, but effective medical treatments are available. Our doctor-led Hair Prescription Service provides access to evidence-based medications, including Minoxidil (topical or oral), Finasteride, Dutasteride, Spironolactone (where appropriate), and vitamin replacement if clinically indicated. This service may help with: • Male and female pattern hair loss • Hair thinning or a receding hairline • Generalised hair shedding • Perimenopausal or menopausal hair thinning • Hair loss following illness, stress or weight loss (where appropriate) How do these medications work? Minoxidil improves blood supply to hair follicles and prolongs the active growth phase, encouraging stronger, healthier hair. Finasteride and Dutasteride (men only) reduce DHT, the hormone responsible for male pattern hair loss, helping to slow further loss and support regrowth. Spironolactone (selected women) helps reduce the effects of androgens on hair follicles and may benefit certain types of female pattern hair loss. New Patients Your first appointment is a doctor-led consultation (£50). During this appointment we will: • Review your medical history and suitability for treatment. • Assess your hair follicles, hair pattern and likely cause of hair loss. • Discuss your concerns, expectations and treatment goals. • Explain the benefits, limitations and potential side effects of the available medications. • Recommend the most appropriate treatment plan. If a prescription is appropriate, this is charged separately at £40, which includes your private prescription and a complimentary remote follow-up review. Please note: Medication costs, pharmacy dispensing fees and any required blood tests are not included. Existing Patients If you've previously been prescribed hair loss medication through MPower Clinic, you can book a Repeat Hair Prescription appointment. This includes a complimentary remote review to assess your progress and ongoing suitability. Repeat prescriptions are issued at the practitioner's discretion, and a face-to-face review may occasionally be required. Important Information • Results usually develop over 3–6 months, with maximum benefit often taking 6–12 months. • Medications require ongoing use to maintain results. • Some treatments require blood pressure monitoring, blood tests or periodic review appointments. • Treatment is always tailored to your individual diagnosis, medical history and goals.
