About the Treatment

Hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) can be debilitating for those who experience severe symptoms. Whilst antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops are often effective, some individuals continue to struggle with persistent symptoms that significantly impact their quality of life. At MPower Clinic, we offer Kenalog® (triamcinolone) injections for selected patients with severe hay fever symptoms that have not responded adequately to conventional treatments. This corticosteroid injection works by reducing inflammation within the body, helping to relieve common hay fever symptoms such as: Constant sneezing Itchy, watery eyes Runny or blocked nose Fatigue caused by uncontrolled symptoms The treatment is administered by a medical professional following a thorough consultation. Steroid injections are not a first-line treatment and are not suitable for everyone due to potential risks and side effects. During your consultation, we will review your medical history, current health and any medications you are taking to determine whether treatment is appropriate. For suitable patients, symptom relief starts within 48 hours and may last for several weeks, covering much of the peak hay fever season. We offer both 40 mg and 80 mg doses. 40 mg is our standard starting dose and is recommended for most patients. 80 mg (double dose) is reserved for selected patients, including those who have previously experienced limited benefit from 40 mg, have historically required 80 mg for symptom control, have particularly severe symptoms, or have a larger body habitus. The most appropriate dose will be determined during your consultation. Kenalog® is an unlicensed treatment for hay fever in the UK. Its use is based on clinical judgement after discussing the risks, benefits, and available alternatives. Please note that Kenalog® has been discontinued by the manufacturer in the UK, and availability is therefore limited. We currently have a small amount of stock available whilst supplies last.
