About the Treatment

This treatment is available exclusively at our CQC-registered locations, ensuring safe, regulated care. Headaches and migraines can have a significant impact on daily life. For those who suffer with chronic or recurrent symptoms, medical treatment options may offer relief. At MPower Clinic, we provide doctor-led treatments, including prescription medication and carefully placed botulinum toxin injections, designed to help reduce both the frequency and intensity of migraine episodes. Treatment usually takes around 30 minutes and is carried out using a fine needle. A series of small injections may be placed across specific points of the head, neck, or shoulders. Discomfort is minimal and most clients resume normal activity straight away. Relief typically develops within 1–2 weeks, with results lasting around 3–4 months. Repeat treatments may be recommended for ongoing management. Common side effects may include redness, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. Temporary headache or mild flu-like symptoms can also occur. Pre-treatment advice Avoid anti-inflammatories (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen), alcohol, fish oils, garlic, Vitamin E, and herbal supplements such as Ginkgo or St. John’s Wort for 3 days prior (unless prescribed). Do not attend treatment if you are unwell or have an active infection. Inform your practitioner of any medical or medication changes. Avoid scheduling treatment within 2 weeks of an important event in case adjustments are needed. Post-treatment advice Avoid rubbing or massaging treated areas for 24 hours. Stay upright for 4 hours after injections. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, swimming pools, and extremes of heat or cold on the day of treatment. Do not apply makeup for 12 hours to reduce infection risk. Mild redness, swelling, or bruising is normal and should settle in a few days. Contact your practitioner if you experience severe or persistent headache, visual disturbance, or unexpected pain/swelling.
