About the Treatment

This service provides a thorough assessment of moles and skin lesions to help identify any features that may be suspicious for skin cancer, including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Regular screening can provide reassurance, support early detection and help monitor changes in your skin over time. This service may be particularly beneficial for individuals with: A large number of moles Irregular, unusually shaped or changing moles A personal or family history of skin cancer Fair or sensitive skin that burns easily Significant sun exposure or a history of frequent sunburn What to expect Your appointment will begin with a detailed medical history and assessment of your individual risk factors for skin cancer. You will then identify the mole(s) or skin lesion(s) you would like assessed. A high-resolution dermatoscopic image of each lesion is taken using specialist imaging equipment, allowing detailed examination beneath the skin's surface. If a lesion demonstrates any suspicious features, the images and your assessment information will be securely submitted to a Consultant Dermatologist for expert review. A specialist report is typically returned within 3 working days. If further investigation is recommended, we can either arrange a private dermatology referral for biopsy or further assessment, or provide a referral letter to your NHS GP. Lesions that appear benign can either be monitored or, where appropriate, removed in clinic using cryotherapy during the same appointment at a discounted rate of £50 per cartridge used. Multiple lesions can be treated per cartridge. If treatment is undertaken at a later date, a separate appointment should be booked via the Cryotherapy treatment option and standard pricing will apply. Dermatology referral fees: £95: First lesion £45: Each additional lesion assessed during the same appointment Additional lesions or referrals can be discussed and arranged during your appointment. Important information Our skin naturally changes over time, and even moles previously considered normal can evolve. Regular self-checks using the ABCDE rule (Asymmetry, Border, Colour, Diameter and Evolving) are encouraged alongside professional assessments. Please note that this service does not provide a definitive diagnosis of skin cancer. Instead, it provides a comprehensive assessment, with access to expert dermatology review where required, to determine whether further investigation is recommended.
