About the Treatment

CryoPen® is an advanced treatment that uses high-pressure nitrous oxide to precisely freeze and remove benign skin lesions. The treatment causes the lesion to break down, scab and gradually fall away, allowing healthy skin to regenerate beneath. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive and typically results in minimal scarring. Cryotherapy may be suitable for: Skin tags Seborrhoeic keratoses Age and sun spots Benign moles Viral Warts/Verrucae What to expect Your appointment will begin with a suitability assessment to ensure the lesion is appropriate for treatment. If there are any concerning features identified during your assessment, treatment will not proceed and further investigation may be recommended. Where appropriate, we can arrange a dermatology referral or provide a referral letter to your GP. Most benign lesions resolve after a single treatment, although larger or deeper lesions may require multiple sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Warts and verrucae are often more resistant and commonly require 3 treatment sessions, performed 1 week apart, followed by a 4-week break before any further treatment if required. Some lesions may require 6–9 sessions for optimal results. Pricing £85: Assessment and first gas cartridge £95: Viral lesions (warts and verrucae) £55: Each additional gas cartridge used during the same session If any concerning lesions are identified during your assessment, treatment will not proceed. The appointment will instead be charged at £75 for the assessment, and any remaining balance can be transferred towards the cost of a dermatology referral (£95). Please note that this does not include subsequent treatment if the lesion is later confirmed to be benign. Pre-treatment advice Ensure the area is clean and free from creams or makeup Avoid excessive sun exposure Inform your practitioner of any medications or relevant medical conditions Avoid antihistamines for 2–3 days beforehand unless prescribed Aftercare Mild redness, swelling, blistering and scabbing are normal Do not pick the area or remove any scabs Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms and excessive sweating for 3 days Once healed, apply SPF 50 to minimise pigmentation changes Important information Cryotherapy may not be suitable for everyone, including those with cold hypersensitivity, impaired circulation, unstable diabetes, keloid-prone skin, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Suitability will be assessed during your appointment.
