What Happens During a Hair Restoration Consultation?
Hair loss can occur for many different reasons, and successful treatment begins with identifying the underlying cause rather than simply choosing a treatment. During your consultation, Dr Mäla will carry out a comprehensive medical assessment to determine the most appropriate management plan for your individual concerns.
Your consultation includes a detailed discussion about your hair loss history, medical conditions, medications, family history, lifestyle factors, nutrition and any previous treatments you have tried. Where appropriate, trichoscopic examination of the scalp and hair follicles may be performed to help assess follicle health, hair shaft characteristics, patterns of hair loss and the presence of any signs that may suggest an underlying medical condition.
Where appropriate, we may recommend additional investigations such as blood tests or GP referral to identify potential contributing factors including iron deficiency, thyroid disorders, vitamin deficiencies or hormonal imbalance. Blood tests are not included within the consultation fee.
Following your assessment, you'll receive a personalised treatment plan tailored to your diagnosis, goals and budget. Every patient also receives our complimentary Hair Restoration Guide, providing practical advice on lifestyle, nutrition, home care and ways to optimise your results between treatments.
What Treatment Options Are Available?
Hair restoration is rarely a one-size-fits-all treatment. Depending on the cause and severity of your hair loss, your personalised treatment plan may include one or a combination of the following:
Prescription medication – Doctor-prescribed treatments such as topical or oral minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride (men), or spironolactone (women), where clinically appropriate.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) – Uses concentrated growth factors from your own blood to stimulate hair follicles and support healthier hair growth.
Nouveau Visage® Regen3 Complex™ – Our most advanced regenerative treatment, combining over 100 billion exosomes, polynucleotides (PDRN) and biomimetic peptides to optimise scalp health and support follicle regeneration.
Polynucleotides – Highly purified DNA fragments that help repair damaged tissue, reduce inflammation and improve the scalp environment surrounding hair follicles.
Medical Microneedling – May be used alongside regenerative treatments to stimulate collagen production within the scalp and enhance the delivery of active ingredients.
Vitamin Therapy – Vitamin B12 and biotin injections can provide additional nutritional support for healthy hair growth, particularly where deficiencies or increased nutritional demands are suspected.

Who Is Suitable For a Hair Restoration Consultation?
A consultation is suitable for anyone concerned about hair thinning, excessive hair shedding or changes in hair quality, whether these have developed gradually or suddenly.

If, following your assessment, Dr Mäla believes another approach would be more appropriate, this will be discussed honestly during your consultation. Our recommendations are always based on what we genuinely believe is in your best interests, not simply on what has been requested.
