What Is PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an advanced regenerative treatment that uses your body's own concentrated platelets and growth factors to stimulate natural healing, collagen production and tissue repair.
A small sample of your blood is taken, similar to a routine blood test, and processed in a medical centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other blood components. This concentrated plasma is rich in growth factors that help stimulate cell turnover, improve circulation and encourage your skin to produce new collagen and elastin.
Because PRP uses your own blood, it is a completely natural treatment with no synthetic ingredients. Rather than changing your appearance or adding volume, it works by supporting your body's own repair processes, gradually improving skin quality and tissue health from within.
PRP may help improve:
• Fine lines and early wrinkles
• Dull, tired or dehydrated skin
• Uneven skin tone and texture
• Mild acne scarring
• Loss of elasticity
• Delicate under-eye concerns
• Hair thinning and reduced hair density
Results develop gradually as your body regenerates new tissue, with improvements continuing over several months.
Where Can PRP be Used?
PRP is a highly versatile regenerative treatment that can be delivered using carefully placed injections, medical microneedling, or a combination of both techniques depending on the treatment area and desired outcome.
Common treatment areas include:
• Face – to improve skin quality, fine lines, acne scarring and overall skin rejuvenation.
• Under-eyes – to improve dark circles, crepey skin and skin thinning.
• Scalp – to support healthier hair follicles and improve hair thickness and density.
• Neck and décolletage – to improve skin texture, firmness and elasticity.
• Body – including selected scars and stretch marks where tissue regeneration is beneficial.
Where appropriate, PRP can be combined with medical microneedling to distribute the growth factors more evenly throughout the skin, enhancing overall skin rejuvenation and increase collagen stimulation.
Most patients require an initial course of three treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6–9 months, although treatment plans vary depending on the concern being treated.
How Does PRP Compare to Other Regenerative Skin Treatments?
PRP works differently from other injectable skin treatments because it relies entirely on your body's own natural growth factors rather than manufactured ingredients.
Whilst treatments such as skin boosters primarily focus on improving hydration and polynucleotides stimulate skin repair using highly purified DNA fragments, PRP uses your own concentrated platelets to encourage natural tissue regeneration, collagen production and improved circulation.
Each regenerative treatment has its own strengths, and in some cases they can be combined as part of a longer-term treatment plan. During your consultation, we'll assess your skin quality, concerns and treatment goals before recommending the most appropriate option—or combination of treatments—for you.
PRP is not an instant treatment. Improvements develop gradually over several weeks, with collagen remodelling and tissue regeneration continuing for up to 3–6 months after treatment.
